Halloween Projects
This Halloween use fabric dye to make your costume or decorations. Choose black, tangerine orange, cardinal red, purple or grey fabric dye colours to fit the theme -- easily update fabric for a new look.
CANDY CORN SKULL HALLOWEEN TANK DIY
Candy corn is a seasonal Halloween classic colour combo of white orange and yellow, it is the perfect theme for the start of a 'last minute costume" (that can even be worn after Hallowen with blue jeans).
- Tintex Tangerine Orange & Brilliant Yellow fabric dyes (you can also make orange by mixing a custom dye colour using red & yellow dyes).
- White cotton fabric (use a white T shirt or dress)
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- 2 Plastic buckets, glass or stainless steel bowls
- Felt scraps (optional)
- Paint brush or sponge brush (optional)
- Permanent markers (optional)
- Scissors (optional)
- Glue & glue gun (optional)
- Get dyeing supplies, protect work-station with plastic and wear plastic or rubber gloves to avoid staining hands
- Add power dye to hot water and mix well until completely dissolved
- Add each dye solution (Brilliant Yellow and Tangerine Orange) to bowl or bucket
- Place the bottom third of the clean, damp fabric into the yellow dyebath; leave immersed & moving for 5-10 minutes
- Gently squeeze the extra dye solution out of your item but do not wring
- Add the middle area of your bag to the into the orange dyebath leaving it immersed and moving it around slightly for approximately 5-10 minutes
- Gently squeeze the extra dye solution out of your item but do not wring
- Run cold water down from the lightest shade to the darkest to remove extra dye until water runs clear
- Allow your item to air-dry and iron on a low setting when slightly damp
- Clean the work station using bleach (if needed) and warm water as soon as possible
- Optional: enhance your dyed Halloween costume; draw shapes or words with a permanent marker or use a contrasting darker colour of dye and a paint brush.
- Optional: attach cut out felt shapes with a glue gun.

- Tintex Black fabric dye
- Dress
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- 2 stainless steel bowls
- Glue Gun (optional)
- Playing Cards (optional)
- Extra fabric for decorating hair (optional)
- Headband (optional)
- Sewing supplies (optional)
- Get dyeing supplies needed for easy fabric dyeing, protect work-station with plastic and wear plastic or rubber gloves to avoid staining hands
- Add each powder dye to hot water separately and mix well until completely dissolved
- Add each dye solution to separate stainless bowl
- Place the clean, dampened fabric into each dye bath; leave immersed & moving for up to 15 minutes
- Gently squeeze the extra dye solution out of your item but do not wring
- Run cold water down from the lightest shade to the darkest to remove extra dye until water runs clear
- Allow your fabric to air-dry and iron on a low setting when slightly damp
- Clean the work station using bleach (if needed) and warm water ASAP
- Optional: attach playing cards to headband and secure with hot glue gun or attach dyed red fabric to hair

Candy Corn Halloween Trick-or-Treat Bags
Create cute Halloween bag the kids will love while 'up-cycling' supplies that you already have.
Materials:- Tintex Tangerine Orange & Brilliant Yellow fabric dyes (or make your own custom dye colour)
- White cotton tote bag or pillowcase
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- 2 Plastic buckets (or use glass or stainless steel bowls)
- Felt scraps (optional)
- Paint brush or sponge brush (optional)
- Permanent markers (optional)
- Scissors (optional)
- Glue & glue gun (optional)

Solid or Splattered Red Halloween Tablescape DIY
Create a Halloween tablescape starting with scary scarlet red napkins that your guests will love. Alternate each table setting with splattered red on white fabric and dyed cardinal red napkins.
Materials:- Tintex Scarlet Red fabric dye
- Tintex Cardinal Red fabric dye
- White cotton fabric (or use a T-shirt that can be cut up or arranged for a tablescape)
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- Stainless steel bowl
- Plastic spray bottle or drizzle bottle
- Permanent markers (optional)
- Scissors (optional)
- Hand dye fabric for a 'solid colour' look:
- Place clean, damp fabric in stainless steel dye bath
- Leave immersed & moving for 5-10 minutes
- Rinse with cold water to remove extra dye, until water runs clear
- Allow your item to air-dry and iron on a low setting when slightly damp
- Clean the work station using bleach (if needed) and warm water asap
- Hand dye fabric for 'splattered' end result:
- Spray or drizzle red dye onto dry white fabric for an abstract look
- Air dry (or use a hairdryer on low to speed up drying time)
- Rinse with cold water to remove extra dye, until water runs clear
- Gently squeeze the extra dye solution out of your item but do not wring
- Clean the work station using bleach (if needed) and warm water asap
- Optional: enhance your splattered Halloween napkin: draw shapes or guests name with a permanent marker or use a contrasting darker colour of dye and a paint brush.
- Optional: use scissors to fray the ends of your napkins for a spooky touch.
